Viking Place Names
of East Lothian

Tarmagan Press, like its namesake, is small and Scots and is situated in Edinburgh. It is named from the Gaelic 'Tarmachan' which in the Scots vernacular has become 'Tarmagan'; the version with a 'p' in front is a recent addition by foreigners to make it seem Greek.

It is a small independent publication venture, which at the moment is featuring two novels by Iain M.M. Johnstone, a retired schoolteacher, originally from Edinburgh, but now residing with his wife in East Lothian.

His novels to date have a Scots historical background.

Two other books, on Scots place names, have been completed and will be available shortly. They break completely new ground and are quite revolutionary in their discoveries.
